Frequently Asked Questions
Stetson University currently has 4 campuses – DeLand (main), Celebration, Gulfport (law), and Tampa (law). MBA courses are offered at DeLand, Celebration, and Gulfport. MBA courses offered at Gulfport are primarily reserved for JD/MBA students.
In DeLand, MBA advanced level courses are offered Monday-Thursday evenings. Classes meet once a week; elective courses begin at 4:30 and core classes begin at 6:00. The School of Business Administration is based out of the DeLand campus in the Eugene M. & Christine Lynn Business Center (often referred to as the LBC). All DeLand MBA courses will be located in the LBC.
In Celebration, MBA advanced level courses are offered at Stetson University’s Center at Celebration on Monday, Tuesday, and occasional Wednesday evenings beginning at 6:00. During the Fall and Spring semesters, electives last until 6:00 p.m. (with enough time to allow you to take a required course on the same night) and required courses end at 9:00 p.m. Summer semesters are shorter at only 8 weeks long, therefore the classes last longer. Electives are scheduled until 7:30 and required courses until 9:45. You cannot take both an elective and required course in the same night during the Summer.
The MBA program offered in DeLand is flexible. Some full time students can complete the program in approximately one year. The average part time student (requiring little to no foundation coursework) completes the MBA program in two years. The MBA student (requiring little to no foundation coursework) solely attending classes in Celebration usually finishes the program in 18 months. If you begin in a Fall semester, you can finish the MBA at Celebration in 15 months. Regardless of the program and campus you choose, all Graduate Business degrees must be completed within 8 years from your first graduate class.
Yes. You may begin coursework in the fall, spring or summer semester. The Office of Graduate Business Programs has a rolling admissions policy. At the time you are ready to apply to a program, contact us if you are unsure about which upcoming semester you are eligible to start.
Admission requirements vary depending on which program you wish to pursue. Please consult our Admissions page for more information. Please take notice of the special note to international students. We encourage all interested parties to apply.
We accept admission applications on a rolling basis. For any given semester, we will accept applications up to 45 days prior to the start of that semester. However, we suggest applying early. If you would like to begin graduate studies in the Summer or Fall, you should apply at the start of the Spring semester prior to the time you wish to begin your studies (January, February); those desiring Spring entrance should apply in the beginning of the Fall semester (August, September).
We require the GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test) as one criterion in our application evaluation process. In addition to being a proven indicator of academic success, requiring a GMAT score is important to maintain our prestigious AACSB International Accreditation - the highest accreditation for which a business school can strive. Stetson University is pleased to have accreditation in both our business and accounting programs. Applicants should have at least a 500 on the GMAT for consideration into Stetson’s Graduate Business Programs; however, particular programs and/or applicants may require higher scores. Applications must be completed in full before an admission decision can be made. We cannot tell you exactly what role your GMAT score will have in the decision process until we are able to look at all required application components.
No! We have designed the MBA program to accommodate those students without an undergraduate degree in business. In most instances, an MBA nicely compliments an undergraduate degree in a different field of study. We simply require that an undergraduate degree is complete from an accredited university and that official transcripts documenting all undergraduate study are sent as part of the application process. Students without a business degree will most like require foundation coursework.
Yes, we do require additional materials from international students. Please visit the International Admissions page to read a special note to international students. Among other things, we do require evaluated transcripts and a TOEFL score of at least 79-80 IBT.
After all the application requirements are met, you will be notified of our decision right away.

In some cases, we can accept up to 6 graduate credits from an accredited university towards your MBA. We would need an official transcript with the graduate-level courses shown as well as course descriptions. We may also require a syllabus in some cases. Each transfer decision is made on a case by case basis and follows specific guidelines set forth by the School of Business Administration. If you wish to be considered for transfer credit, you must bring this to our attention prior to admission.
